I’ve been struggling with the EDJ and trying to get my life in order. So on top of losing weight by being part of Weight Watchers, what do I do? I sign up to get my college degree. Part of it is because I need the motivation. I need the push to better myself and it’s something I’ve been lacking when it comes to my writing. I need a push from the outside to get my writing up to where I want it to be. Scary but true. On the other side of the coin, I’ve lost over 28 lbs since my hysterectomy and I’m feeling great.

So, I’m trying to go the distance. I’m trying to put my life in order- working my day job to go to college. Learning to get into a writing habit to make my writing better. And learning what it’s going to take to be the best me I can be. Scary but true.

Well, it’s official, the laptop is now my sister’s and I’ve got my computer up and running at my new home. Granted I’ve not gotten ALL of my stuff out yet, but at least the computer with the 22″ screen is now in my new place with my male and I. I’ve got to admit, it’s nice to look at the big screen again.

LMAO I spent over 7 hours on the laptop getting my stuff off of it and making sure to make it internet ready for the old homestead. So, I went there, set it up and…. it didn’t want to go online. So once again, I worked my magick and the power of knowing how the laptop likes to be fussy– and fixed it. I also managed to pack about 1/8 of my books, wheel and deal with my sister a bit on some stuff and get her help on using her big vehicle to help transfer the bookshelves when it’s time.

Can we say– I’m exhausted? Between packing, unpacking, coughing, taking the extra meds for my respiratory infection and more– I’m SO in need of a nap. Doesn’t look like it’ll happen before 10pm tonight though.

Right now, I’m sitting at my male’s house, hoping I can last more than 10 minutes on the computer. I’m not sick– but I am hurt. Long story short– I have a slightly “slipped” disk in my lower back that makes it tough for me to sit up fo r long periods of time. Needless to say– I’m out of work for the next few days until the medicine prescribed can ease me back into some kind of normalcy.

I know I’m behind on things, but I’m going to try to “catch” up of sorts for everyone. I might not quite get there, but bear with me. Sitting in even my normally comfy seat isn’t going well. *wails* Yeah, that’s right– the one chair I KNOW I can sit in and write– I can’t handle for more than 10-15 minutes and that’s after the hot shower I had hitting my back muscles. *whimpers*

So, hold with me for a while as I try to get some things together– see what all I can do to keep things going here and to hopefully get my body to cooperate on this all.

Always,

Congratulations to Barack Obama for becoming the 44th president of the United States. Unlike many people, I’m not going to congratulate him on being the first black president. He’s the best qualified person that ran and more importantly, he’s multicultural, not just African American. For me, that’s more important that classifying using an outdated, outmoded system that doesn’t dignify our cultural history here in the United States.

I wish him well, our new President. He’s got a lot of hard work before him and a lot of expectations on his back. For me, if he does even half of what he promises, he’s better than many politicians in the last 20 years or so. My only hope is that he will keep fighting for the important things- healthcare, taking care of the poor regardless of where they are, and suing for peace in all lands.

I wish him the best, and I wish him well. Welcome to the insanity of being the President- long may you enjoy your life and your family.

Happiness abounds in my house right now. Why? Because it’s a new year and we’re doing the great thing known as Clean/Edit/Publish. This means that my Marauders are being worked on– with new edits, more plot, and revising to make them better than ever.

Further, I’m through the first 2 rounds of editing for Cupid Shoots, She Scores coming out from Loose Id sometime in the next month. Most of you might have noticed that it’s been moved from my WIP files to the Excerpt area. I can’t wait to see everyone’s reaction to my newest story. Someone asked recently what subgenres it fits in and when I figured it out– I started laughing. CSSS falls into– futuristic, BBW, BDSM, m/m/f menage, multi-cultural, erotic romance. Yeah– I went all out for this one. LMAO Completely unintentionally, but there you have it.

Of course, now that I’ve done this, I’ve got to edit the Marauders next and write some new stuff for them. It should be interesting to do. Plus, I’m working on a couple of other stories– the Pirate Queen, Beg, and Fairytale Porn. They’ve got my interest while I work on plotting out the next Djinn novel completely. It’s one of those things.

Now, if I can get over getting so damn tired, I’d be happy. *sigh*

Today is a me post. I try to keep this to a minimum because this is for my writing and not so much about me personally. But today is one of those days when worlds collide a bit- especially when it comes to dealing with me. LMAO

It’s Sunday, which means NFL, right now. I love pro football, as does my male. We have issues with the fact that he’s a Dolphins fan and I love my Patriots. It makes for fun times. More importantly yesterday was College Football. His team- the Florida Gators beat Alabama. Now, for those of you who know the score, know why the male was beyond happy his team won. But today, this morning, he’s on tenterhooks because of the BCS polling system. We’ve been “discussing” the system and it’s problems- which he attributes fully to the computers. Personally, I blame the people polls. They’re subjective and are partial. Yeah- so we agree to disagree. But we both agree that the division is too huge and needs to be changed in such a way that every few years other teams can vy for bids into a super league formed from the division as it exists now.

What really gets me is how much this is like the polls we have for voting for the best author, best paranormal, etc. It’s just as subjective and in some cases, we have authors who stomp for those votes as if they’re running for office. I am not one of them. Why? Because if people really like my writing and my stories enough, they’ll vote- not just because I asked them. I have never seen the reasoning for campaigning for votes. Sometimes I wish there was an impartial way of knowing if you’re a best-seller in your publishing arena or not.

One of my publishers has a Top 10 list- based on sales- calculated on the site and updated daily. My other publisher does not. Have I ever once even looked to see how I was doing? Nope. I’m weird like that. For me– it has to do with the cool emails I get saying how people love my books. It’s about people entering my contests (which I’m planning new and better ones come next year!), it’s about chatting with readers on various loops and having a fun time. It’s never been about ranking or where I stand in the field.

Perhaps I’m uncompetitive. (This is a lie. I am– but I have parameters. LOL) Perhaps it’s because I see competition in a the idea of reaching certain personal levels. Perhaps it’s because I’m enjoying a slight resurgence now that people like Oprah and Susie Bright are coming to ebooks more than ever before and that in turn lifts my spirits up- especially in this economy!

Maybe it’s because my male and I shopped yesterday- and I showed him the Christmas stuff I like- there’s this pda that I just NEED. NEED I tell ya! It plays mp3s and does everything else I need it to do! I showed him the wireless printer I’m whimpering for (it’s just so cool), and I told him about the food processor too. He knows I won’t say no to an mp3 player either. I don’t know what he plans on buying me for Christmas- believe or not, he’s FINALLY going to surprise me. But sitting here this Sunday morning, I realized something-

The male and I actually agree on something in football. Who knew. LOL
