Today is a me post. I try to keep this to a minimum because this is for my writing and not so much about me personally. But today is one of those days when worlds collide a bit- especially when it comes to dealing with me. LMAO

It’s Sunday, which means NFL, right now. I love pro football, as does my male. We have issues with the fact that he’s a Dolphins fan and I love my Patriots. It makes for fun times. More importantly yesterday was College Football. His team- the Florida Gators beat Alabama. Now, for those of you who know the score, know why the male was beyond happy his team won. But today, this morning, he’s on tenterhooks because of the BCS polling system. We’ve been “discussing” the system and it’s problems- which he attributes fully to the computers. Personally, I blame the people polls. They’re subjective and are partial. Yeah- so we agree to disagree. But we both agree that the division is too huge and needs to be changed in such a way that every few years other teams can vy for bids into a super league formed from the division as it exists now.

What really gets me is how much this is like the polls we have for voting for the best author, best paranormal, etc. It’s just as subjective and in some cases, we have authors who stomp for those votes as if they’re running for office. I am not one of them. Why? Because if people really like my writing and my stories enough, they’ll vote- not just because I asked them. I have never seen the reasoning for campaigning for votes. Sometimes I wish there was an impartial way of knowing if you’re a best-seller in your publishing arena or not.

One of my publishers has a Top 10 list- based on sales- calculated on the site and updated daily. My other publisher does not. Have I ever once even looked to see how I was doing? Nope. I’m weird like that. For me– it has to do with the cool emails I get saying how people love my books. It’s about people entering my contests (which I’m planning new and better ones come next year!), it’s about chatting with readers on various loops and having a fun time. It’s never been about ranking or where I stand in the field.

Perhaps I’m uncompetitive. (This is a lie. I am– but I have parameters. LOL) Perhaps it’s because I see competition in a the idea of reaching certain personal levels. Perhaps it’s because I’m enjoying a slight resurgence now that people like Oprah and Susie Bright are coming to ebooks more than ever before and that in turn lifts my spirits up- especially in this economy!

Maybe it’s because my male and I shopped yesterday- and I showed him the Christmas stuff I like- there’s this pda that I just NEED. NEED I tell ya! It plays mp3s and does everything else I need it to do! I showed him the wireless printer I’m whimpering for (it’s just so cool), and I told him about the food processor too. He knows I won’t say no to an mp3 player either. I don’t know what he plans on buying me for Christmas- believe or not, he’s FINALLY going to surprise me. But sitting here this Sunday morning, I realized something-

The male and I actually agree on something in football. Who knew. LOL
