Essence of Cyn Newsletter

March 2008

SPRING IS HERE! WHOO HOOO! It’s spring time and everyone should be thrilled to get rid of the nasty cold weather that has plagued the world this year. Let’s hear it for flowers blooming, baby animals being born and more! And let’s hear it for the planting of new gardens and a chance to let the past go.

With Spring in the air, it’s time for me to make some changes in what I do and how I do it. It’s not been easy, but I’m better for it as a writer and as a person. But one thing I hadn’t planned on– my health keeping me grounded more often than not. Who knew that once you started to really take care of yourself– your body would decide to let everything go bad? What’s up with that?

Writing News

I have a new release coming out soon- it’s called Training the Male. It’s based on a short idea that turned into a short short novella allowing a woman to tell a man what pleasures her best as he wants to please her but is unsure of what makes her body writhe in pleasure. I can’t wait for it to come out. I admit- it was fun as anything to write.

I’m also working on the Pirate Queen– which came to a brief standstill while I was dealing with immediate health issues. I’ve also put into effect the changes to Beg which will be part of the P3 universe shortly. I can’t wait!

The next Marauder book will be in edits soon and I admit- I can’t wait to add some more to a great book.

What are you doing, Cyn?

I’m continuing posting my Pagan posts on Mondays, though occasionally, I’ve been known to do it on a Tuesday or another day as things come up. I’ve also kept up on my Sex Ed with Mistress Cynnara. I want to thank all of you who’ve made it a great success! You’re the reason I keep posting and bringing out things that help us all get excited and embrace our sexuality.

I’ve also been dealing with a lot healthwise. Recently, I had a Pap smear that came back abnormal along with an abnormal ultrasound. Though, I try not to freak out much, since my mom’s death, the smaller things have managed to get to me. The fact that I’m peri-menopausal (thus hormonally over-challenged) doesn’t help in the fear department. Luckily, there’s no cancer, but I do have HPV, though we don’t know which kind yet. So, I’m slowly dealing with the female issues and hoping for a  brighter road ahead as I prepare to have an ablation done in the next couple of weeks. So– if you haven’t had your yearly Pap smear– GO GET IT DONE! Seriously, it’s the first step to catching all sorts of things that can make you sick without realizing it.

Recipe for the month

This month’s recipe is something I absolutely adore making. It’s Spring so I want things that are light and refreshing. *grins* This normally means that I’m making shakes and pasta salads and other fun snacks. For you all, I’m providing one of my favourite cake recipes.  It’s for a banana cake that’s scrumptious!

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups  sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (2 to 3 medium)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup milk

  • FROSTING:
  • 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa

Directions:

In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in bananas and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking powder and baking soda; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.

Transfer to a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

For frosting, in a small bowl, beat the peanut butter, milk and vanilla until blended; gradually beat in confectioners’ sugar until smooth. Spread over cake. Yield: 12-15 servings.
