This is for those who wanted more Captain Jack Harkness. *GRINS*

As she walked down the street, the first thing she noticed was the emptiness of the streets. Though she’d been warned by London Torchwood regarding certain beasties, it wasn’t until this moment that the danger became real. “Fuck me sideways until I scream,” she muttered under her breath, rubbing her hands over her forearms, making sure her knife sheaths were in place. Though normally she didn’t go armed with just knives, taking a weapon into a club was not on the recommended to do list. Read the rest of this entry »

For Jeanne’s birthday, I started working on a flash for her. I’m going to make it into a full story, but i figured since I missed out on Friday’s Flash, I’d post a snippet of it here. I know LSB has a call out for a Halloween anthology– and perhaps, just perhaps this story might fit. *grins* Read the rest of this entry »

This story is a revamped version of the one I originally started many moons ago. I had problems with some things and it took a while to get them sorted. But now, now I think I might have a better handle on it. Enjoy!

I stared at the phone receiver in my hand. Obviously someone is going to London and I think it’s not either of my sisters. Fuck me raw with my hands tied behind my back. After hanging up the receiver, I sat back on my office chair and wondered what I was getting into. I don’t know why I said yes to the way-too-nerdy-even-for-me British professor. I’m no expert in medieval manuscripts, but something in my mind perked when Dr. Phineas Tolliver mentioned the name of Geoffrey Chaucer. And when my subconscious mind and its link to my ancestors perk, I’m very inclined to listen. Read the rest of this entry »

Ashlyn is one of the LAW ladies and she’s amazed me at how she’s managed to push herself despite the bad weather and her own personal struggles of late. What makes it more amazing to me is that for a woman who has a strong sense of what she likes– she’s so willing to negotiate, even with the most stubborn of us. *grins*

But her writing–she’s so come into her own. Erotic romantic comedy is her thing. Trust me. When she first approached us LAW ladies about doing a story on her character, I admit to a slight hesitancy…then BAM I find it’s coming out at Ellora’s Cave. When I read the book I laughed and I grinned a LOT. Why? Because it means that it’s time for me to pick up the gauntlet she tossed at my feet and get writing Phoenyx’s story.

But what if you’ve not met the incomparable Ashlyn Chase? Take the time to do so. Really. Check out her website, www.ashlynchase.com. Or take a look at her interview at The Romance Studio this month. http://www.theromancestudio.com/blue/who10.php

Many authors attempt to make comedy work in romance and it’s not always successful, but I have to admit– Ashlyn does it but good.

My dad had called to see how I was doing. I had told him about being sick and such and what I’ll be facing in the future. But more than that, he called to ask me about how I felt about this Mother’s Day. Honestly, I didn’t know as it wasn’t here. But yesterday was the day, and looking back–I realized that I do miss mom.

I think part of it was because I told Dad how I truly felt with Mom. That she was my connection to the family. That of anyone– she and I were most alike and without her– I wasn’t able to find the way to communicate with them so they could at least understand part of me. With her, it was so different. She seemed to understand why I needed away time and why I’d look at my family and balk. But now Dad knows. I know on some level it hurts him. I don’t mean to hurt him, but he and I are very different and have different perspectives, though we both miss mom.

So I worked yesterday and it was okay. Then I came home and did something just for me. I went in my bedroom and read all three books in the Kay Hooper Shadows series. Why? Because it was something my mom and I have done together in the past. We’d buy books and read them so we could talk about them. So, I did it in memory of my mom…and for me.

In fact, mom made me do something I normally don’t do. She made me put her in a book. That’s right. In the book, Jack’s Back, she plays Tiana’s mom. The scene with the coffee– that is SO my mom. I do miss her.

I hope every mother and others who mother people had a beautiful day yesterday. Today I’m doing laundry, reading email and trying to work on this pink chair diary thing. Somehow– I got conned into doing it. LMAO

Things have been brewing and sometimes what I feel and know to be happening has to come out and allow me to see it more clearly. So, I decided to write this snippet because I must make a choice soon….and it’s not going to be easy. It hurts to know that someone I love has broken a promise– and the consequences hurt like hell. Take a read and see what you think of this little story idea.

Hmm, today’s flash is weighing on me. Why? Because I’m having a blank since I’ve been working on editing Menkaure’s Gift. But I might be able to come up with something…the question is– sexy or not. Hmm… Read the rest of this entry »
